I have two wonderful kids. Zack is almost 14 and Kira is 6. My wife is an amazing blessing and a marvel. They are the core of everything, along with a loving God.
I came of age in the 60s, was an indie bookseller through the 70s, and have been in publishing since 1979. My first employer on the publishing side of the fence was S&S, where I had some great co-workers, experienced mostly terrible human beings in top management (though some were smart), and had he opportunity to sell some great books. Given what that company lacked in those years (a soul might begin to capture the main absence), at 13 years, I was there way too long. Then some consulting and then St. Martins for a few years. I co-founded Bloomberg Press in the mid-90's and it is now my longest stint anywhere in my "career".
Books have been both my profession, my living, and—since childhood—my salvation.
